Operational Habitability (OpsHab)

The Operational Habitability (OpsHab) Team collects and analyses information from space flight missions to identify human factors and habitability lessons learned, validate human factors requirements and designs, solve operational challenges, and improve habitability and human performance on future missions.

The OpsHab team identifies and analyzes human-related data captured through crew debriefs, previous findings from long duration space flight (e.g., Skylab, Mir, ISS) and space-analog environments (e.g., the Antarctic, Submarines, etc.), as well as research findings from the behavioral sciences. In addition, the OpsHab team conducts focused evaluations on the International Space Station (ISS) to identify improvements in areas of human factors and habitability.

In addition to supporting the ISS Program and Mars analog missions, the OpsHab team has supported the Phase 1 Shuttle-Mir program in the past and may support Shuttle and other Reusable Vehicle missions in the future.
