The Usability Testing
and Analysis Facility (UTAF) is part of the Habitability
and Environmental Factors Division at Johnson Space
Center. UTAF provides support to the Office of Life
and Microgravity Sciences and Applications, the Space
Shuttle Program, the International Space Station Program,
and other NASA groups. Reimbursable Agreements, Space
Act Agreements, and other means of cooperation with
non-NASA organizations are also utilized.
The UTAF provides analysis,
evaluation and usability testing of crew interfaces
for work areas and equipment. This includes computer
displays and controls, workstation systems, and other
types of crew interfaces. The UTAF has a unique capability
with a staff experienced in the rigors of both cognitive
human factors and ergonomic research and evaluations.
While the UTAF can act as a stand-alone facility,
it is strongly integrated with other facilities in
the Habitability & Environmental Factors Division,
such as the Anthropometry and Biomechanics Facility
and the Graphics Research and Analysis Facility.
